Al Gore is in San Francisco for last few days and got the news today morning. I heard it on NPR on my way to work. He decided to donate the prize money,750K $ to a bay area (palo alto, to be specific) based environmental organization.I've been a long time supporter of the drive to protect and preserve the environment and spread the word around. I dont belong to either right or left wing and as much as i like Al Gore for his contribution to the cause of environment, I do not fully support him for political reasons, even though I agree he would be good candidate as next United Nations Secretary-General.
Well in all this one thing is clear - we (the environmentalists) aint not fighting for no cause; and announcement of Nobel Peace Prize to Al Gore is a stamp that the world now recognizes environmental misadventure as a biggest threat to the existence of mankind. Not only are we destroying it for ourselves, future generation but also for billions of other life forms who supposedly have the same stake on this planet as us.
