I bought a Prius and paid almost 7000 USD premium on other car of same class. Well, i would have ended up spending that money anyway, might have bought a more powerful 4 wheel drive with 20 miles per gallon. My commute is ~40 miles one way, which means i would have spend 3 gallon gas per day which is 1.5 gallon now. Total saving of 390 gallons per year which is almost 1170 $.
To me it is more than money, its my small contribution to reduce my carbon footprint, not just approx 400 gallons per annum that i reduce but when i think about all those highway delays, red lights where my car's engine is not running and is not blowing up toxic in air, i kinda feel good.
